The combination of renovation, modernisation, new development and dismantling measures towards rehabilitating a prefabricated residential area in Leinefelde of originally 700 units (now 560). With roofs spanning multiple residences, the structure of the plan amplifies the scale of the project. The “Plattenbau” system is elaborated to offer different typologies of buildings and housing units. This is made possible through a modular design system with components such as entrances, balconies and interior designs. Everything is realised at the same costs as a standard refurbishment.
