The villa is a listed monument located on lake Wörthsee. It has been thoroughly modernised and expanded. The worn-out plinth of the terrace has been removed. It is replaced by a new building that contains the rooms for the parents, e.g. bedroom, dressing room, fitness room, office and library. The floor-to-ceiling windows provide a view of the lake and underscore the solidity of the plinth. The historical windows of the villa were reconstructed with the aid of photographs. In accordance with the style of the time, laminated compound windows were installed. Several new windows accentuate the facade and point to the interior changes: enlarged living spaces and broader vistas.

The concept for the technical building services is focused on low energy use. An air source heat pump has been installed, with the possibility of wood-fired heating at peak load. All the rooms have floor heating. The exterior walls have been insulated on the inside with calcium silicone boards, thus largely preserving the original materials and appearance of the villa.

To complete the building ensemble a sculptural studio building has been built on the property. It replaces a garden house that used to be in the same location. The large windows of the studio allow full appreciation of the scenic qualities of the site: a beautiful view of the lake and the forested hills behind the house. The studio is clearly identified as an annex by a dark timber facade, which also reduces its visibility in the landscape.
The new outdoor spaces and terraces, supported by the solid walls of the plinth create an important link between the old and the new, between nature and architecture.
